Traveling in China – six days of meetings, culture, and new impressions

Six days, two cities, many encounters: Two colleagues from the Group Procurement team traveled to China, stopping in Xiamen and Shanghai.

The aim of the trip was to strengthen our long-standing partnerships, establish new contacts, and experience Chinese culture firsthand.

In Xiamen, they visited one of our established aluminum suppliers. The focus there was on an intensive exchange about market conditions. During a tour of the production facilities, the two were able to experience the quality and processes of our partner directly on site—an exciting glimpse behind the scenes.

In Shanghai, our colleagues got to know a new supplier personally, expanded their network, and held initial talks about possible collaborations. Here, too, the two were given a tour of the production facilities – an ideal opportunity to better understand how potential partners work.

Between meetings and culture

China has once again demonstrated how closely business and culture are linked:

Business cards are presented with both hands – a small detail that expresses great respect.
Business meals are often more important than the actual meeting. Numerous dishes are shared at the round table – a lively, connecting tradition.
Hospitality extends far beyond working hours: sightseeing and activities together are just as much a part of the experience as official discussions.

"It's a special feeling to represent our company in China – getting to know new markets, deepening existing relationships and experiencing a piece of Chinese culture at the same time. Being on the road for Bischof+Klein also means building bridges between cultures. It was particularly inspiring to see how personal networks and mutual respect shape business success in China. Our trip was also greatly appreciated by our suppliers: our presence demonstrated how important close cooperation is to us, further strengthened existing relationships, and at the same time opened new doors for discussing future business opportunities openly and in a spirit of partnership."
